Challah Bomb

I have been making my own challah for years now. I have a wonderful bread machine recipe that works every time and has my hubbie singing my praises. I received this recipe from a friend of mine and I give her full credit. The only problem is that it uses too little flour for me to partake in the saying the blessing for "taking challah."

Recently, I took a trip to Israel with JWRP and one of our classes was a challah baking class from the most expert challah baker I have ever met. She taught us, inspired us and instructed us on kneading and braiding challah. She explained the significance and importance of making challah. She explained that making challah gives us the opportunity to fix the ruin created by Eve (I've tasted a few challah recipes that might just be putting us back a few steps). Anyway, she also explained the tremendous amount of blessing that making challah can bring into our homes and that if we knew the potential, all bakeries would be out of business (Atlanta seems to be doing a good job at that). She told us that challah making takes top priority over cholent, kugel, chicken and dessert (that may not go over too well in our home). I do know that my little dog pines to snatch a piece of challah from our table and my children will fill up on challah alone. In addition, she taught us that while kneading challah, it is the prime opportunity to pray for anyone who needs our prayers. The coolest thing was that we learned how to make a 6-braided challah, a napkin ring, dove and flower challah.  Our masterpiece was so beautiful!

With that said, I do prefer the taste of my machine made challah recipe, so I decided to expand it from the 4 cups of flour to 5lbs. DO NOT TRY THIS. IT DOES NOT WORK. My new challah looks more like an nuclear weapon. So I am now hunting for a delicious 5lb flour, challah recipe that will "wow" my hubbie and guests, permitting me to "take challah" and join in the mitzvah of Jewish women all over the world. Please comment or send me your 5lb challah recipes (kitov18@gmail.com), so I can join you in this incredible mitzvah!
