The Rebbe Came To Town

This past Shabbos a Rebbe came to town. Now, I'm not a big rebbe fan. It's not that I have anything against a rebbe (I mean they are kind of cute and all), but I'm just not a groupie. Needless to say, my husband is. If there is a rebbe within a 200 mile radius, he is there. So this past shabbos we packed up the car and headed across town to "be with" with rebbe.
My daughter had already met him at her school and gave him a big thumbs up as "he actually looked at me." This is a step in the right direction if you want to get the approval of a teen-age girl. I did notice that he had very kind, soft, blue eyes and he said something nice to me (not exactly sure, but I think it was along the lines that I should have a long happy marriage to which I replied "amen"). It pretty much doesn't matter what a rebbe says to you. The correct reply is always "amen." I sometimes wonder what they are really saying, like "oh that poor woman. She really needs a new outfit."
I have also never seen a lean rebbe. They are always heavy set (a few too many Tishes and cake). I have a hard time getting around this as 1)I worry about their health and 2)it seems to be a disconnect from "the body is your temple" sort of thing. Maybe I should start a facebook page: RRR "Religious(excercise) Routines for Rebbes". But I'm guessing that most of them are "disconnected", if you know what I mean. All in all, though, the disconnect is probably what acutally helps with the direct "connect". Perhaps if the rest of us "disconnected" we'd "connect" a bit better too. I'm looking forward to the next rebbe visit and I'm going to do my best to see that the Dunwoody Rebbe grows up to be spiritually and physically fit. Last time I saw him, though,  he was climbing up a wall at Stone Summit, and "rowing" to a Seinfeld episode, so for now, I'm not to worried.
